What is Novofem?

If you are at high risk for osteoporosis and other osteoporosis medications are not suitable, Novofem is one option to help strengthen bones and prevent bone fractures. The white tablets contain a form of progesterone in both 1mg or 2mg that helps with menopause and prevent osteoporosis.

How does Novofem work?

Novofem works by replacing the hormones your body stops producing after menopause mainly oestrogen and progesterone. It comes as a 28-day treatment cycle with two types of tablets. For the first 16 days, you take red tablets containing estradiol (a form of oestrogen) to relieve symptoms like hot flushes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness.

For the next 12 days, you take white tablets that contain both estradiol and norethisterone acetate (a synthetic progesterone). This helps protect the womb lining from becoming too thick, which can happen if oestrogen is taken alone, and triggers a withdrawal bleed similar to a natural period.

By following this cycle, Novofem mimics your body natural hormone pattern, providing effective relief from menopause symptoms while keeping your uterus healthy.

The active ingredients in Novofem are:
