What is Cystocalm

Cystitis is an infection of the urinary tract which affects individuals of all ages but is slightly more common in women. Cystitis or any other form of urinary tract infection can cause a considerable amount of discomfort in those who suffer from them. The symptoms include a stinging or burning sensation when passing urine and feeling the need to go to the toilet a lot more frequently than usual but often without great success. A more complete list of symptoms includes:

  • Urine that burns or stings when you go to the toilet
  • An increased need to go to the toilet
  • Pain in the abdomen
  • Urine which is darker in colour, cloudy or stronger smelling than usual
  • Other symptoms such as feeling generally unwell, ill and tired

Urinary tract infections (or UTIs) are caused when bacteria enter the urethra and subsequently, the bladder, which then leads to the infection and also painful inflammation. Causes of this can vary but include failure to wipe yourself in the correct way (from front to back) after having been to the toilet, having sexual intercourse and they can also be more common in pregnant women.

As the symptoms can be quite severe and painful, effective remedies should be sought at the first sign of problems to alleviate them as soon as possible. There is a range of medicated products available to help with afflictions such as cystitis and Galpharm Cystocalm Cystitis Relief sachets are one of them. They come in a cranberry flavour to create a delicious drink.

How effective is Galpharm Cystocalm?

Symptoms of cystitis can be relieved after just a 2-day treatment and, in certain cases, maybe eased sooner. The packet contains 6 sachets to be mixed with water and consumed regularly not only to help ease the pain but also to help flush the infection out of your body, aiding the immune system in fighting it. Most people will find that completing the course of treatment will be enough to ensure the UTI has been eliminated from the body entirely with no further symptoms at all. However, treatment can continue for up to 4 days. If symptoms tend to persist for longer than this, it is advisable to consult your GP.

Can I buy Galpharm Cystocalm sachets online?

Yes. Galpharm Cystocalm Cystitis Relief sachets do not require a prescription. They are, therefore, readily available to purchase online via retailers such as Click Pharmacy, who will deliver to your preferred address. If next-day delivery is preferred, you can select this option when you get to the check out stage of the process. If you require information or advice in advance of your purchase, you can speak to one of the experts at Click Pharmacy, who will be happy to help.

What dose should I choose?

Galpharm Cystocalm sachets are only available in this dose, but a treatment cycle can be increased to a maximum of 4 days. Each 5.6g sachet of granules of Galpharm Cystocalm contains 4g of the active ingredient sodium citrate dihydrate. 3 sachets per day would, therefore, equate to 12g of the active ingredient, and a complete treatment cycle of 2 days would be 24g.

The sachets are to be mixed with water and drunk at regular times throughout a 2-day period, with no more than 3 sachets consumed in 24 hours.

Galpharm Cystocalm Cystitis Relief sachets are not suitable for men or children.

Please read all the instructions before using the product and ensure they are followed properly. You will find instructions in the packaging when the product arrives.

Pregnant women should not use this product – consult a doctor for a suitable alternative remedy.

How should I take Galpharm Cystocalm sachets?

It is recommended that women should take one Cystocalm sachet 3 times per day for 2 days continuously.

The contents of the sachet should be fully mixed with 200ml of water and should be consumed immediately.

No more than 3 sachets should be taken in any one day, and treatment should not last for longer than 4 days. If symptoms persist or get any worse, consult your doctor.

How do Galpharm Cystocalm sachets work?

The active ingredient is sodium citrate dihydrate, and this works to reduce the acidity of your urine. This will result in the easing of symptoms such as pain, stinging or burning when you urinate. It can also help reduce abdominal pain. The sachets, plus the additional water consumed, will also allow you to help flush the infection out of your system.

How long do I use Galpharm Cystocalm sachets for before I notice a difference?

You may notice the symptoms of your UTI begin to ease after the first sachet is consumed, however, you should expect to continue use for 2 days to be completely relieved. If symptoms persist, you can take another course of treatment, totalling 4 days, but the sachets should not be used for longer than this period.

What are the side effects of Galpharm Cystocalm sachets?

All products with an active ingredient can cause side effects, although they are rare and can include passing urine more frequently. If this occurs, quit its use immediately and speak to your GP. If you have any concerns about any potential side effects, please speak to the experts at Click Pharmacy.

When shouldn’t I use Galpharm Cystocalm sachets?

Galpharm Cystocalm sachets are not suitable for use by men, children or pregnant or breastfeeding women. Speak to your GP or pharmacist for alternative remedies.

If you have an intolerance to sugar, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product, as it contains sucrose.

Speak to your GP or pharmacist if you have any questions.

What is the difference between Galpharm Cystocalm sachets and Canesten CanesOasis Cystitis Relief and Cystopurin Cranberry Flavoured Granules 3g?

There are other cystitis treatments available, including Canesten CanesOasis Cystitis Relief and Cystopurin Cranberry Flavoured Granules 3g. Both of these come in sachet format to be mixed with water and drunk as a solution, too, similar to Galpharm Cystocalm Cystitis Relief sachets.

Canesten CanesOasis Cystitis Relief are sachets that you mix with 200ml of water. The active ingredient is 4g of sodium citrate per sachet, which neutralises the acid in your urine to make it less painful when passing urine. There is also a cranberry flavour, as with Galpharm Cystocalm Cystitis Relief sachets. Canesten CanesOasis Cystitis Relief sachets can be taken for a maximum of two days – for symptoms persisting longer than this, consult your doctor. Men, children and pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take Canesten CanesOasis Cystitis Relief, which is the same as Galpharm Cystocalm Cystitis Relief sachets.

Cystopurin Cranberry Flavoured Granules contain a different active ingredient – 3g of potassium citrate, which works in a similar way to sodium citrate to neutralise the acidity of your urine. It is also lower in sodium, so those who are on a low salt diet are more likely to be able to use this remedy. Sachets are to be mixed with water and consumed 3 per day for 2 days.

There are no known side effects in either product.

Can I combine other medicines with Galpharm Cystocalm Sachets for Cystitis Relief?

Although it is often safe to combine different medicines with Galpharm Cystocalm Sachets for Cystitis Relief, it is advised to consult with a doctor or pharmacist before doing so. You must not combine Galpharm Cystocalm Sachets for Cystitis Relief with any of the following:

  • Lithium
  • Methenamine

How should I store Galpharm Cystocalm Sachets for Cystitis Relief?

You should store Galpharm Cystocalm Sachets for Cystitis Relief in a cool dry place, out of reach from children, and at room temperature. This product should not be exposed to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.

What if I forget to take my dose of Galpharm Cystocalm Sachets for Cystitis Relief?

If you forget to take your dose of Galpharm Cystocalm Sachets for Cystitis Relief you should take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. If it is almost time for your next dose, you should skip the dose you just missed and continue as normal. You should never take two doses at once, even if you are making up for a missed dose.

Like all medicines, after using Galpharm Cystocalm Sachets for Cystitis Relief you are likely to experience side effects. The only expected side effect is more frequent passing of water.
