Methane is designed to prevent rash in the nappy. Metanium helps alleviate, protect, and heal soreness. The creation of a thin barrier between the skin and waste products is to recover your baby quickly. The base of the ointment is contained in water-abstracting silicone, titanium peroxide and titanium salicylate.
Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream used to prevent rashes and itching caused by wearing a nappy.
No, you do not require a prescription to purchase Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream. However if you are unsure whether Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream is right for you, you are welcome to book a free consultation with one of our medicine experts.
Prior to applying Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream you should thoroughly wash and dry the affected areas. After drying you should apply an even thin layer of the cream to sore areas.
Although most parents notice improvement in the baby's nappy rash within the first few applications, this may depend on the severity of your baby’s rash. Severe rashes may take upto weeks to notice significant improvements in the rash.
Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream created a barrier on the skin. This prevents the skin from coming into contact with irritants which cause the nappy rash.
You should not use Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream to treat your baby’s nappy rash if your baby is allergic to any of the ingredients. This is because your baby could potentially experience an allergic reaction, making the symptoms of nappy rash worse.
While both Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream and Sudocrem are effectively used for the treatment of nappy rashes, the main difference is how they work against these rashes. While Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream forms a barrier to prevent irritation, Sudocrem repairs the existing barrier of skin.
It is generally advised to apply a thin and even layer of Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream to your baby each time they require a nappy change. This is to ensure the change of nappy does not cause any irritation.
Although it is generally safe to combine products with Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment cream, you should consult with a GP, pharmacist or midwife before doing so.
Metanium is an effective way of treating and preventing nappy rash. In a study performed by Netmums, 83% of mums said Metanium every day was effective in helping prevent nappy rash. 97% of mums said Metanium was easy to use.
The use of Protection Ointment and Spray are recommended for long term use to prevent a nappy rash from occurring. While the stronger Treatment Ointment should only be used when your baby is suffering an identifiable cause. Used together, your baby is given the ultimate protection.
Metanium does not require a prescription, although you are very welcome to book an appointment with a health expert at Click Pharmacy to discuss how best to use this product.
In the case of a serious episode of nappy rash the Yellow Treatment Ointment should be used.
While overdosing is not usually possible when applied in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines, care must be taken not to ingest the product. Salicylate poisoning is possible in this instance. If you notice any symptoms such as vomiting, dehydration, tinnitus, vertigo, deafness, sweating, warm extremities with bounding pulses, increased respiratory rate and hyperventilation, then seek medical care immediately.
In the event of accidental ingestion, contact your doctor immediately.
To apply Metanium, perform the following steps:
Remove and dispose of soiled nappy.
Clean and wash the affected area.
Dry with a soft towel – pat any areas of nappy rash gently, do not rub and irritate further.
Wash your hands.
Squeeze a pea-sized drop onto your finger.
Apply to the sore area.
Spread thinly – you should be able to see the skin texture through it.
Wash your hands thoroughly, particularly before preparing food or touching sensitive areas of your baby.
After applying, keep the nozzle clean. Re-apply after each nappy change.
Nappy rash is caused when urine and faeces remain in contact with the skin for long periods, and by tight nappies that rub and prevent the circulation of air.
Metanium works by creating a barrier between the skin and the irritants. The barrier helps prevent further irritation and reduces soreness. The ointment also helps to soothe the skin and to reduce associated pain.
Metanium Treatment helps to clear up a case of nappy rash.
The number of applications required before a noticeable difference is seen will depend on the severity of the nappy rash. For mild cases, an improvement can be made within a few applications. For more severe cases, it may take several days to see a significant improvement. If you notice any signs of distress or side-effects, do not hesitate to contact your health care professional.
Metanium generally does not cause side effects. However, some baby’s may occasionally experience skin irritation. If any unexpected results take place, discontinue use and speak to your doctor.
In the event of accidental swallowing, visit your doctor immediately.
Do not use Metanium if your baby is sensitive to any of the listed ingredients. In the event of an allergic reaction, visit your doctor.
Metanium is explicitly designed to alleviate the symptoms of nappy rash. Providing a protective barrier, it helps stop irritants from sitting on the skin and causing a nappy rash.
Sudocream is a more generic cream that does not provide the physical barrier that Metanium does. While helping to prevent nappy rash as a preventative measure, it is unlikely to improve the present case of an outbreak.
Bepanthen ointment works similarly to Metanium, but also contains Vitamin B5. Bepanthen is recommended for regular use and closer in function to Metanium Preventative Ointment and Spray. It is less capable as a treatment.
The Metanium range provided the right mix of preventative ointment/spray and treatment ointment.
Generally your baby should not experience any side effects from using Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream. This is because Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream is formulated using a gentle formula that is soft to delicate skin. If your baby experiences any of the following side effects after using Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream:
Your baby may be experiencing an allergic reaction. In this case you should stop using Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream immediately and seek medical advice from a GP, pharmacist or midwife as soon as possible.
