What dose should I take? 

Adults (including the elderly):

  • Should dissolve 1 or 2 sachets in water and drink after each runny faeces.

Children aged two years and over:

  • Should dissolve 1 sachet in water and drink after each runny faeces.

Babies under two years of age:

  • Always seek medical advice when treating a baby. The doctor will prescribe the dosage based on the baby's body weight.
  • For a start, give the baby the solution instead of food. The amount of Dioralyte solution that a doctor would recommend you give over 24 hours is about 1 to 11/2 times the volume of fluid the baby would generally drink within 24 hours. Do not take more than the recommended dosage prescribed by the doctor.
  • Stop bottle-feeding or feeding the baby with any other feeds, as the diarrhoea reduces then you can introduce feeds gradually.
  • If breastfeeding: Give the baby the Dioralyte solution before breastfeeding and then offer the baby the breast after taking the solution. 
  • Take the dioralyte solution in small sips with a straw if you are nauseous.
  • Do not eat in the initial stages of diarrhoea. In about 24 to 48 hrs, as the diarrhoea reduces, you can introduce food to the body gradually.
  • In the case of chronic diarrhoea, that is, diarrhoea that lasts more than 24 to 48 hrs, please consult a doctor immediately.

Side effects
