What is Adex Gel

Adex Gel is a steroid-free emollient with high moisturising and protective levels suitable for reducing inflammation/ redness. It is especially suitable for people suffering from eczema and psoriasis. With an added anti-inflammatory medicinal substance, this white opaque gel helps to ease topical flares while reducing patient’s reliance on corticosteroids, immunomodulators, and/or other potent medications.

Adex Gel has a high oil content with added glycerol and humectant to retain moisture. It helps dry skin hold more water, therefore reducing “itch attacks” or random flare-ups. Adex Gel is safe to use for all body parts and will not irritate the skin. It is safe to use during flare-ups or as much as needed.

How does Adex gel work?

Adex Gel provides simplified relief for irritated and dry skin because it is primarily supplemented with an anti-inflammatory medicinal substance called Nicotinamide. Unlike steroids, it does not damage the skin while healing it. This substance is related to vitamin B3, which helps reduce skin redness and inflammation. The high oil content provides a high level of moisture which prevents future inflammations. Adex Gel is safe to use regularly as part of your regular skin routine if you find it beneficial for you.

What makes Adex gel different from Cortizone 10?

Adex Gel does not contain steroids, unlike Cortizone 10. Adex Gel is, therefore, milder while being just as effective for anyone aged 1 or above. It is also safe to use on the face and scalp without damaging the skin. Adex Gel does not damage the skin permanently.

How effective is Adex gel?

Adex Gel is one of the safest and most effective medications to treat eczema and other skin conditions such as psoriasis. Nicotinamide, the anti-inflammatory medicinal substance used in Adex Gel, is steroid-free and effective in reducing skin rashes and irritations. In a study of 48 patients, nearly 95% of participants reported that their skin has benefited from using Adex Gel.

Typical anti-inflammatory medicines contain steroids (corticosteroids), which are useful in reducing flare-ups at the cost of permanent damage on the skin. Steroid effects on the skin include pigmentation, thinning of the skin, widened blood vessels, and fungal/bacterial infections. Adex Gel is steroid-free, therefore safe to use on anyone above 12 months, and can be used on body parts, including the face.

How Should I Use Adex gel?

Adex Gel is suitable for anyone over 12 months and could be used for an all-over application to the skin. Apply Adex Gel three times daily or as often as needed. To use the 500g bottle, turn the top of the pump dispenser anti-clockwise in order to unlock it. Press down the pump dispenser after unlocking. You may need to pump a number of times before Adex Gel is dispensed.

Apply Adex Gel is needed all around dry and inflamed skin areas. Gently stroke the gel across your skin in the direction of hair growth, as if petting a cat or dog. Allow some time for any excess gel to soak in, and avoid irritating your skin by rubbing it vigorously.

Wait 0.5- 2 hours before applying Adex Gel if you are using other topical medicines. Adex Gel should be used 30 minutes after topical steroids and up to 2 hours for certain calcineurin inhibitors. Allowing time in between medications is important as to avoid mixing up or product dilution.

Use Adex Gel as long as necessary. It could be occasionally or continuously if you find the gel beneficial for your skin. Please seek medical advice if there is no improvement within 2 to 4 weeks.

What dose should I choose?

Adex Gel comes in a small 25g tube, a 100g tube, and a big 500g pump bottle. Pick the size that is suitable for your needs. You may consult your doctor to confirm which is ideal for you, or you may consult our specialist doctors at Click Pharmacy for further advice.

How long do I use Adex gel before I notice a difference?

Up to 95% of participants in a study reported improvement in their skin condition after using Adex Gel three times daily for two weeks. After two weeks, you may start using Adex Gel whenever you feel necessary (occasionally, as an addition to another medicine, or daily). Adex Gel should help your skin become softer, smoother, moisturised, and, most importantly-- feel comfortable.

Other than noticing better texture and less inflammation on your skin, you will also find that Adex Gel helps you use less topical steroids. However, if you are having adverse reactions to Adex Gel, be sure to contact your GP or one of Click Pharmacy’s consultants.
