What is Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment
Methane is designed to prevent rash in the nappy. Metanium helps alleviate, protect, and heal soreness. The creation of a thin barrier between the skin and waste products is to recover your baby quickly. The base of the ointment is contained in water-abstracting silicone, titanium peroxide and titanium salicylate.
What is the difference between Metanium and Sudocream/Bepanthen?
Metanium is explicitly designed to alleviate the symptoms of nappy rash. Providing a protective barrier, it helps stop irritants from sitting on the skin and causing a nappy rash.
Sudocream is a more generic cream that does not provide the physical barrier that Metanium does. While helping to prevent nappy rash as a preventative measure, it is unlikely to improve the present case of an outbreak.
Bepanthen ointment works similarly to Metanium but also contains Vitamin B5. Bepanthen is recommended for regular use and closer in function to Metanium Preventative Ointment and Spray. It is less capable as a treatment.
The Metanium range provided the right mix of preventative ointment/spray and treatment ointment.
How effective is Metanium?
Metanium is an effective way of treating and preventing nappy rash. In a study performed by Netmums, 83% of mums said Metanium every day was effective in helping prevent nappy rash. 97% of mums said Metanium was easy to use.
The use of Protection Ointment and Spray are recommended for long-term use to prevent a nappy rash from occurring. While the stronger Treatment Ointment should only be used when your baby is suffering an identifiable cause. Used together, your baby is given the ultimate protection.
Can I buy Metanium online?
Metanium does not require a prescription, although you are very welcome to book an appointment with a health expert at Click Pharmacy to discuss how best to use this product.
How does Metanium work?
Nappy rash is caused when urine and faeces remain in contact with the skin for long periods and by tight nappies that rub and prevent the circulation of air.
Metanium works by creating a barrier between the skin and the irritants. The barrier helps prevent further irritation and reduces soreness. The ointment also helps to soothe the skin and to reduce associated pain.
Metanium Treatment helps to clear up a case of nappy rash.
How long do I need to apply Metanium to work before I notice a difference?
The number of applications required before a noticeable difference is seen will depend on the severity of the nappy rash. For mild cases, an improvement can be made within a few applications. For more severe cases, it may take several days to see a significant improvement. If you notice any signs of distress or side-effects, do not hesitate to contact your health care professional.
What dose should I choose?
In the case of a serious episode of nappy rash, the Yellow Treatment Ointment should be used.
While overdosing is not usually possible when applied in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines, care must be taken not to ingest the product. Salicylate poisoning is possible in this instance. If you notice any symptoms such as vomiting, dehydration, tinnitus, vertigo, deafness, sweating, warm extremities with bounding pulses, increased respiratory rate and hyperventilation, then seek medical care immediately.
In the event of accidental ingestion, contact your doctor immediately.
How should I apply Metanium?
To apply Metanium, perform the following steps:

Remove and dispose of soiled nappy.
-
