What is Permethrin Cream for Scabies 5% w/w

An infestation of insects in the skin can cause a tremendous amount of discomfort and distress for the sufferer and can also be contagious. There are several types of lice and mites which can cause such problems, with scabies being one such example, and getting rid of them promptly is often a top priority. If they are left untreated, they can cause a real disturbance and will continue to get worse as time passes. So it is essential to act as soon as symptoms are noticed using a product designed to overcome the problem, such as Permethrin (Lyclear) 5% Cream.

Certain skin conditions can be caused by infestations of certain types of lice and mites and can create a great disturbance for the sufferer, with unpleasant and very uncomfortable symptoms. Two such conditions are crab lice and scabies, both of which can be contracted due to the skin being in close proximity with someone who already has them. If left untreated, they will continue to get worse, so must be dealt with as soon as symptoms are noticed.

These mites will be caught by coming into contact (skin to skin) with someone who is already suffering from an infestation and also via contact of a sexual nature. More rarely, they can be caught by sharing towels or clothes and bedding.

Effective treatment will kill the mites and prevent further spread to others. An insecticide such as Permethrin 5% Cream is one of the best ways to eliminate the problem.

How effective is Permethrin 5% Cream - 30g?

Permethrin 5% Cream, is one of the most effective treatments of scabies on the market with the ability to get rid of the problem within just 8 hours thanks to the insecticide it contains as its active ingredient.

In most cases, a single dose is all it will take to kill the mites – Permethrin 5% has been proven effective in doing this in clinical trials. If symptoms do not entirely disappear, a second dose can be used to clear up the remaining problem.

Yes, Permethrin 5% Cream is available for purchase online. Whilst it is a medicine, it does not require a prescription or a medical questionnaire to be completed prior to ordering it online. Approved pharmacies such as Click Pharmacy are able to retail this in an easy-to-order way.

What dose should I choose?

Permethrin 5% Cream, comes in this dose only. It has an insecticide – permethrin – as its active ingredient at a concentration of 5%. Permethrin belongs to a category of drugs known as pyrethrins which have a well-known ability to kill infestations of mites.

The physical amount of the product to be applied to the skin depends on the patient being treated, but it should be applied to the whole body in order to treat the infestation effectively.

A single application, when used as directed, should be enough to treat the mites, but if some symptoms persist, a second dose can be applied.

Full instructions will be supplied within the product packaging – please follow them.

How should I use Permethrin 5% Cream?

Permethrin 5% Cream, should only be applied to clean, dry and cool skin – do not take a hot bath or shower before the application.

The cream should be massaged into the skin until it has soaked in, with particular attention being paid to areas of the body such as under the nails, the armpits, wrists, in between the fingers and toes, the genital area, breasts and buttocks. The cream should be used all over the body with approximate quantities specified by the doctor or listed in the information leaflet present in the packaging.

The cream should be left on the skin for a minimum of 8 hours and should be washed off with soap and water within 12 hours of application as a maximum. If you need to wash the hands or anywhere else within the 8-hour window, ensure you reapply the cream immediately.

How does Permethrin 5% Cream work?

The active ingredient within Permethrin 5% Cream, is permethrin which belongs to a family of drugs known as Pyrethroids which kill infestations of mites and lice by affecting their nervous system causing spasms, paralysis and death. In small doses, humans are able to safely break it down, meaning it is harmless for us.

How long do I use Permethrin 5% Cream for before I notice a difference?

Permethrin 5% should be applied to the entire body and left for a minimum of 8 hours without disruption. This should be a sufficient dose to ensure the infestation has been eradicated. However, if you find that symptoms persist beyond this period, a second dose can be applied.

Always use Permethrin 5% as directed.

What are the side effects of Permethrin (Lyclear) 5% Cream?
