What is Zumenon
Zumenon is a type of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). It is one of the most powerful forms of HRT as it contains a synthetic form of oestrogen known as estradiol.
Zumenon helps balance the levels of oestrogen that are known to decrease significantly before menopause even begins. This gradual drop leads to severe physical symptoms that can disrupt one's day-to-day life. However, when Zumenon stabilises oestrogen in the body, it helps alleviate such distressing symptoms that may occur. Symptoms like hot flushes, night sweats and vaginal dryness are common instances. Keep in mind that there are lots of assorted menopause symptoms that women can go through before, during and after menopause. Also, Zumenon may be used by individuals with an intact womb (uterus).
You can find Zumenon in two different types. The main difference lies in the mg present in the tablets. Therefore, you will either be prescribed 1 mg or 2 mg of Zumenon. Your primary doctor will determine the appropriate dose, and it may be required to be reviewed regularly to ensure whether it is the correct strength for you.
Can I buy Zumenon online?
Yes, you can purchase Zumenon online through Click Pharmacy. You can place an order for 1mg Zumenon as well as 2mg Zumenon. You need a verified prescription in order to confirm your order. In any case, if you do not have a prescription, our medical experts will review your case and determine whether or not you require the assistance of said medication.
What is Zumenon Used for?
As mentioned, the primary use of Zumenon is treating menopausal symptoms. It provides relief for symptoms like hot flushes, night sweats, sleeping disorders, vaginal dryness, irritation in the vagina, low libido, intense headaches or migraines, mood swings, irritability, anxiety or nervousness, bloating or issues with the stomach like digestive problems, thinning in hair, aching in joint, and fluctuation in weight.
Patients are often prescribed a progestogen along with Zumenon since it does not contain progestogen. This particular hormone protects the lining of the uterus from excessive growth.
It is crucial to note that Zumenon is unsuitable for birth control since it is an HRT and does not have a chance of restoring fertility.
How does Zumenon work?
Estradiol is a naturally occurring female sex hormone which is known as oestrogen. In essence, it is the same hormone that your ovaries produced before your body entered menopause. This medication works by producing the hormone for your body to maintain the balance it previously had. This, in return, reduces symptoms of menopause and alleviates painful signs.
How should I take Zumenon?
You should take Zumenon as it is instructed by your doctor. The usual daily dose should never exceed one tablet. In addition, if you have not experienced a regular menstrual cycle for about 12 months or more, you can start Zumenon immediately. Similarly, you can start the medication immediately if you have had a hysterectomy (removal of uterus by surgery).
On the other hand, if you are experiencing irregular periods, you should take Zumenon on the fifth day of the menstrual cycle. Also, if your uterus is still intact, your doctor will probably prescribe another medicine (progesterone) to take along with Zumenon.
It is advised to take Zumenon around the same time each day. Doing so will not only prove to be the most effective treatment, but it will also allow you to remember to take your medication. Furthermore, the Zumenon pack is labelled with the days of the week in order to aid you with taking your tablets every day.
Moreover, avoid taking gaps between packs. This means that if your pack contains 84 tablets, then on the 85th day, you should start a new pack.
If a situation occurs where you forget to take a dose, then you should first look at the time that has passed since the missed dose. If less than 12 hours have passed, you can take your missed dose; however, you should skip the forgotten dose if 12 hours or more have passed. You should take the next dose according to the proper time.
How long do I need to take Zumenon?
In general, your doctor is the best person to advise on how long you may need to take this. The decision to make it a long-term treatment can be made after discussing the benefits and detriments you have experienced since taking Zumenon. Although it is advised never to take HRT for more than 5 years, some may continue to take it until their menopause ends.
What does Zumenon contain?
It is always a good idea to check out what a medication contains before you start taking it. This proves beneficial in cases where people are allergic to a specific ingredient in the medicine.
First, each Zumenon tablet contains the active ingredient known as estradiol hemihydrate. The key difference between the Zumenon 1mg tablets and 2mg tablets is that Zumenon 1mg contains only 1mg of the active ingredient, estradiol hemihydrate. In contrast, Zumenon 2mg tablets contain precisely 2mg of estradiol hemihydrate.
One Zumenon tablet contains active ingredients like lactose, hypromellose, maise starch, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide (E171), colloidal anhydrous silica, and macrogol 400.
What are the side effects of Zumenon?
1mg and 2mg Zumenon have the same side effects. However, not everyone is bound to experience side effects, nor will everyone experience the same side effects. They may vary depending from person to person. In addition to this, they may be at different intensities. The most common side effects are irregular vaginal bleeding or spotting, tender, sensitive, painful or swollen breasts, pain resembling period cramps, vaginal itching, vaginal inflammation, excessive or abnormal vaginal discharge, swelling of the lower legs, swelling of the ankles, swelling of the fingers or swelling of the abdomen, fluid retention, nausea, abdominal pain, tenderness in the abdomen, frequent vomiting, heartburn, bloating, diarrhoea, headache or migraine, a spike in blood pressure levels, heart palpitations, vertigo, fatigue, depression, anxiety, muscle cramps, pain in the lower back, low libido, sudden fluctuation in weight, hormonal acne, itchy or dry skin, hyperpigmentation or discolouration, abnormal and sudden hair growth, and changes in vision like blurred vision.
What are the benefits of taking Zumenon?
Zumenon helps restore the natural levels of female sex hormones found in the body. Due to the abnormality in these levels, women experience a variety of symptoms ranging from hot flashes and night sweats to thinning of hair. The newfound balance helps the body return to its normal state, thus, eliminating most symptoms of menopause.
What precautions should I take?
First, note that individuals who take combined HRT – HRT containing oestrogen and progesterone – can increase the risk of an individual developing certain cancers. This includes ovarian and breast cancer. While the likelihood of getting cancer is very low, getting regular checkups while on treatment is critical.
In addition to this, there is also an increased risk of blood clots while you are on HRT. Keep an eye out for any pain or unusual sensations in your limbs, breathlessness, or unexplained chest pain. If these symptoms occur, seek immediate medical attention right away.
Inform your GP if you are currently on medication for any of the following:
- epilepsy
- tuberculosis (TB)
- HIV
Who can use this treatment?
Zumenon is not suitable for everyone. There may be a risk of contraindications or interactions. Not only that, but certain medical conditions can increase the risk of health complications. Zumenon is not for you if you:
- Have a history of breast cancer
- Have a history of endometrial cancer
- Have unexplained vaginal bleeding
- Have a history of blood clots
- Have a blood clotting disorder
- Had a recent heart attack, stroke or angina
- Have a history of liver disease
- Are currently pregnant
- Are trying to conceive
Zumenon Alternatives
Zumenon has multiple alternatives that may be better suited for individuals who can not take Zumenon. Precise alternatives of Zumenon are Elleste Solo and Progynova, which are different brands of HRT; however, since they contain the same active ingredient as Zumenon, they work similarly.
Since these HRTs are so similar in nature, your GP may prescribe any one of them for you. Therefore, you will not experience any unexpected side effects.
How long does Zumenon take to work?
In general, it takes Zumenon a week to work. However, you will experience a significant improvement regarding the symptoms during the initial weeks of treatment.
However, you may also experience a variety of side effects during these weeks. This is because, during this time, your body adjusts to the restored hormone levels.
Note that it can take up individuals three or four months to experience the full benefit of Zumenon.
What dose of Zumenon should I choose?
The ideal dosage of Zumenon is one tablet per day. Your GP will give you instructions before prescribing Zumenon.
Please note the following:
- Zumenon is for oral use.
- Zumenon’s primary purpose is to prevent menopause symptoms.
- Take the tablets once a day.
- You should take the dose prescribed for you.
- Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
- Once you finish a 28-tablet strip, start the next one the very next day. Do not take a break.
- If you are prescribed Zumenon and have a womb, you should also take a type of HRT containing progesterone. It would be best if you took that at the same time as Zumenon for the first 12 to 14 days of each new strip of Zumenon.
Who Should Not Take Zumenon?
People who have or have had the following conditions should never take Zumenon:
- Have or had breast cancer
- Have or had oestrogen-dependent malignant tumours, such as endometrial cancer
- Have or had undiagnosed genital bleeding
- Have or had an arterial thromboembolic disease
- Have or had acute liver disease
- Have or had a history of liver disease
- Have or had hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the other ingredients
- Have or had porphyria
What if I miss a Zumenon pill?
If you forget to take a Zumenon tablet (or miss your dose for whatever reason) and notice that less than 12 hours have passed, then it is advised to take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if 12 hours have passed, you should simply forget the missed dose and take the next dose at the usual time. It is crucial that you never take a double dose in order to make up for the missed dose.
This applies to both Zumenon 1mg and Zumenon 2mg tablets.
