What dose should I choose?
Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops come in a 10ml bottle. The normal recommended dose is around 2-3 drops. The drops should be applied once or twice a day. Results normally appear within 14 days.
How does Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops work?
Earwax is naturally produced by the body to help protect the ear and drum. Occasionally the glands that produce ear wax may go into overdrive. The excess wax can build up and dry out. This can lead to pain, discomfort and hearing issues.
Hardened wax can be difficult to remove. Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops, therefore, help to soften this hard wax and ease its removal from the ears.
How long do I need to apply Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops to work before I notice a difference?
Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops are designed to show improvements within 14 days of daily use. Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops should be applied once or twice per day. In the event, you miss a dose, continue at the next session if you apply too much oil. Wipe it away with a tissue.
If you ever notice any pain during or after application, speak to your doctor immediately.
Do not attempt to remove the wax using cotton buds or other pointed objects.

What are the side effects of Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops?
The most common side effects of Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops are:
-
The drops can, in some cases, make existing excessive ear wax symptoms worse, including discomfort, irritation or pain, loss of hearing, dizziness, and tinnitus.
-
Very rarely, some patients have detected an unpleasant taste. If this happens, stop using the drops and contact your doctor.
If you suffer severe reactions with this medication, please seek immediate medical attention.
When shouldn’t I apply Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops?
Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops should not be used in the following situations:
-
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients of Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops
-
if you have a history of ear problems, unless used under the close supervision of your doctor, nurse or pharmacist.
-
If you are also putting anything else in the ear (such as other ear drops or a hearing aid).
-
If your eardrum is (or has been) damaged.
-
If you suffer from dizziness.
-
If there is anything else wrong with your ear - such as pain, swelling, discharge, infection or tinnitus (ringing sounds in the ear).
-
if you have tried to remove the ear wax using fingernails, cotton buds or other implements. (This is because you might have damaged the delicate inner lining of the ear, leading to swelling or infection.) This could make it painful to use the ear drops.
-
if you have had your ear syringed in the last 2 to 3 days – this could also make it painful to use the eardrops.
Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops may be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Olive oil has been in widespread use in this and similar preparations for many years without reports of problems. However, safety trials have not been conducted.
What is the difference between Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops and Otex Express / Earex?
Olive oil is the traditional remedy used for many years. Olive oil can take 1-2 weeks to achieve results, while Otex Express can make a difference within 3-4 days.
Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops use Olive Oil to help soften the earwax and aid with its removal.
Earex contains two active ingredients. Choline salicylate is an NSAID (similar to aspirin) and provides pain relief, while glycerine helps to soften ear wax for easy removal.
Just as with any other medicine, the most effective treatment will vary from person to person. Whichever you choose, make sure it does not cause any allergic reactions. If in doubt, seek medical advice.
How should I store Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops?
You store Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops in a cool dry place, out of reach from children, and at room temperature. This product should not be exposed to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
Can I combine other ear drops with Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops?
You should not use Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops if you are already using any other form of ear drops. This is because the two eye drops combined may interfere with one another and cause harmful side effects.
After using Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops you are likely to experience a number of side effects. It is important to note that not everyone experiences the same side effects and side effects are often mild. Common side effects include the following:
- Bubbling-like sensation in your ear. This is caused by Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops breaking wax into smaller pieces and releasing oxygen.
- Discomfort in the ear
- Irritation
- Itching
- Unpleasant taste in mouth
If any of these side effects worsen, you should stop using Otex Olive Oil Ear Drops immediately and seek medical advice as soon as possible.
