How does Daktarin Aktiv Cream work?

Athletes foot is a fungal infection that usually develops between the toes. It is most common for people whose feet are sweaty while wearing tight-fitting shoes.

Daktarin Aktiv contains the ingredient miconazole. Miconazole is an antifungal used to treat fungal infections such as athletes foot. Miconazole works by interfering with the fungi and yeast cell membranes. It works by preventing the production of ergosterol which is a crucial element of fungal cell membranes. This disrupts the membrane and causes holes to appear.

The membrane stops unwanted substances entering the cells and stops the content from leaking out. When the miconazole makes holes in the membranes, the contents leak out, and the fungi die.
