Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops contain active ingredients naphazoline hydrochloride and distilled witch hazel (Hamamelis Virginiana) - therapeutic ingredients to reduce eye redness.
What dose should I choose?
Optrex Bloodshot eye drops are available in this dosage only.
How effective are Optrex Bloodshot eye drops?
The active ingredient is a decongestant which works to decrease redness by encouraging the normal flow of blood in the eyes and witch hazel to reduce inflammation. When used as directed, Optrex Bloodshot eye drops are proven to reduce redness caused by irritants.
How should I take Optrex Bloodshot eye drops?
Optrex Bloodshot eye drops comes in a 10ml bottle which contains Hamamelis Virginiana (distilled witch hazel BPC 12.5% w/v) and naphazoline hydrochloride 0.01% w/v. It is suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age and is only to be used in the eyes. Insert 1-2 drops into each eye 4 times per day or as directed by your doctor. Usage for extended periods may increase redness in the eyes.

Stop using if usage results in pain in the eyes, changes to your vision, there is increased redness, or there is no improvement after 24 hours.

Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops and Murine Irritation & Redness Relief Eye Drops both have naphazoline hydrochloride as the same active ingredient, which acts as a decongestant and vaso-constrictor and reduces blood flow to the affected area to alleviate irritation.
VISINE Advanced EYE DROPS (0.5oz) 15ml uses Tetrahydrozoline HCl 0.05% (Redness Reliever) as its active ingredient.
When shouldn’t I use Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops?
Do not use Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops if you are allergic to the active ingredients Hamamelis Virginiana (distilled witch hazel BPC 12.5% w/v) and naphazoline hydrochloride 0.01% w/v or any of the other ingredients of Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops.
Do not use Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops if you have glaucoma, other eye diseases or have had eye surgery.
Do not use and consult with your doctor if you suffer from any of the following; high blood pressure, depression, heart disease, diabetes, thyroid disorders.
Speak with your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or are about to start taking any other medicines, particularly; trycyclic antidepressants, digoxin or quinidine, if you have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors in the previous 14 days, are taking medication for high blood pressure (antihypertensive medication) or are using other eye medication or treatments.
Speak with your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or are likely to become pregnant while using.
Can I drive or operate machinery after using Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops?
After using Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops there is a chance you may experience blurred vision as a side effect. This side effect is often temporary, for the duration of this side effect you should not participate in activities such as driving or operating machinery.
Like all medicines, after using Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops you will experience a number of side effects. Side effects are often mild and not everyone experiences the same side effects. Common side effects include the following:
- Watery eyes
- Blurred vision
- Stinging
- Burning
- Itchiness
- Irritation
