What is Desloratadine and what is it used for?
Desloratadine is a non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergies rhinitis such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, watery eyes, and hives. It is commonly prescribed for hay fever and other allergic reactions.
Unlike some other antihistamines, Desloratadine is less likely to cause sleepiness as a side effect than some other antihistamines.
How does Desloratadine work?
Desloratadine works by blocking the effects of histamine, a chemical released by your immune system during an allergic reaction. Desloratadine also contains the following inactive ingredients to make up the complete product: Microcrystalline cellulose (E460), hypromellose (E464), hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, maize starch, lactose monohydrate, talc, macrogol, titanium dioxide (E171), indigo carmine aluminium lake (E132).
Desloratadine alternatives

How to take Desloratadine Tablets
- Swallow the whole tablet with water.
- It can be taken with or without food.
- The usual dose for adults and children over 12 years is one tablet daily.
- For children aged 6 to 11 years, follow your doctor’s instructions or the dosing on the medicine label.
- Do not take more than the recommended dose.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it’s near the time for your next dose then skip the missed one. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Desloratadine side effects
Like all medicines Dymista Nasal Spray can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Common side effects may include:
- Headache
- Dry mouth
- Fatigue or tiredness
- Stomach upset
