What is Avomine

Avomine tablets are a convenient and easy medication used to prevent and treat the nausea and vomiting associated with travel sickness.

Avomine tablets contain the active ingredient, promethazine, an antihistamine which works by blocking the action of histamine from binding its receptors to an area of the brain known as the vomiting centre.

When travelling by car or boat, for example, the constant movement can cause too many signals to be sent to the brain’s vomiting centre, resulting in symptoms such as nausea, vertigo and vomiting.  The promethazine works to block the action of histamine in the vomiting centre, thereby preventing the feelings of nausea.

Avomine tablets are suitable for use by adults and children aged 5 years and older.

How do Avomine tablets work?

Avomine Tablets contain the active ingredient promethazine. This is an antihistamine that helps reduce feelings of nausea during travel by preventing nerve signals from reaching the receptors in the vomiting centre of the brain.
