What is SilDerm Scar Gel
SilDerm Scar Gel is a proven formula which works to allow your body to heal to the best of its ability and make the scar seem less obvious. It will take regular use in order to achieve this and can also reduce the pain and itching, which comes when the skin heals.
Skin will create scar tissue when it has undergone some kind of trauma such as a burn, surgery or deep or superficial wounds. It creates this tissue to knit the skin back together in a way that was stronger than before, and it can have a very different appearance to the skin that was there before and that which surrounds it. Scars can be red or white, raised, thickened and sometimes darker too.
There are two main types of scar, which are:
Keloid – these scars are often raised and tend to be a different colour to the skin around them. These are like an overproduction of scar tissue as are formed often after only minor trauma to the skin such as acne or a piercing. They can be raised and red or darker and can continue to develop even after the skin is healed. The discoloured and often raised appearance is often the reason sufferers wish to improve how they look.
Hypertrophic – these can be thickened, raised and wide, forming at the exact place of the trauma suffered by the skin. Like keloid scars, sometimes they can be as a result of an abnormal reaction and therefore overdevelop which makes them more prominent. Sufferers of these scars would potentially also want to improve their appearance.
Scarring is a natural process to heal the body, however, some people would prefer their scars were less obvious. Thanks to treatments such as SilDerm Scar Gel, this is now possible.
How effective is SilDerm Scar Gel?
The active ingredient in SilDerm Scar Gel is 100% silicone which has been proven in clinical tests to improve the appearance of all types of scars.
It is expected that at least 80% of users of SilDerm Scar Gel will see an improvement in their scars regardless of its age or type, so it is a highly effective product.
The silicon, when applied to the skin, will form a barrier to the environment which will promote healing and an improvement in the way it looks, even on scars which might be more than 2 years old. However, it is even more effective when used on newly scarred skin as it is then when it can make the most difference.
Can I buy SilDerm Scar Gel online?
Yes, whilst SilDerm Scar Gel is classified as a medicine, it does not require a prescription or a medical questionnaire in advance of purchase. As such, it is readily available to buy from approved online retailers such as Click Pharmacy.

What dose should I choose?
SilDerm Scar Gel is made purely from medical grade silicones and is available in this dose of 100% silicone only. However, it is available in a 6g and 12g tube.
With regards to the dose applied to the skin, this should be dependent on the size of the area to be treated – a thin layer should be applied to this area. Please read the instructions in full before use to ensure you do not misuse the product.
Always use as directed and avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes.
How should I use SilDerm Scar Gel?
SilDerm Scar Gel comes in a tube with a fine nozzle for ease of application to the affected area.
Instructions will be provided in full within the product packaging, so please read these before using, but you will need to:
- Clean the area to be treated with soap and water and gently pat the skin dry
- Apply a very thin layer over the affected area, ensuring it is even
- Allow the SilDerm Scar Gel to dry naturally in a few minutes
- Once dried, you will be able to cover the area with clothes or non-medicated products such as makeup
- Repeat this process twice per day, ideally for a period of 90 days or more, until the beneficial effects have stopped being seen.
Avoid contact with clothing when wet, as this may cause staining.
Avoid contact with the eyes or mucous membranes. If contact occurs, flush out with plenty of clean water immediately.
SilDerm Scar Gel should never be used on broken skin. It is suitable for use on sensitive skin in both children and adults. It can also be used in conjunction with pressure garments.
How does SilDerm Scar Gel work?
The active ingredient in SilDerm Scar Gel is 100% medical-grade silicone and it is that which provides the benefits needed to improve the appearance of scars. It has been proven effective in both the prevention of scar tissue forming and also the healing of scars which are already present.
It acts as a protective barrier on the skin, which keeps moisture in. When healing, the skin requires moisture, so this is crucial. Furthermore, the barrier prevents bacteria from entering the skin, which can hinder the healing process by causing further inflammation. It is also possible that the use of silicone suppresses the production of more scar tissue cells whilst reducing the existing redness, inflammation and itching/discomfort associated with healing skin.
How long do I use SilDerm Scar Gel for before I notice a difference?
Some users of SilDerm Scar Gel will notice an improvement in the appearance of their scars within just a couple of weeks. However, this is a product which is best used for continuous periods of time, and it is safe to do so.
It is recommended that you use SilDerm Scar Gel for a minimum of 90 days to see the greatest benefit or until you stop seeing a noticeable improvement in the appearance of the scar, which might take even longer.
What are the side effects of SilDerm Scar Gel?
As with any medical products, it can cause some side effects, but these are most likely when the user is allergic to one of the ingredients found in the product. If the skin around the scar or the scar itself becomes irritated, red, swells or itches excessively, then you should stop using the product immediately. If your symptoms worsen or do not improve after a couple of days, contact a medical professional for their advice.
If you wish to speak to any of the experts at Click Pharmacy in advance of purchase to find out more about any potential side effects, please contact them, and they will be happy to help.
When shouldn’t I use SilDerm Scar Gel?
You should not use SilDerm Scar Gel if you have an allergy to silicone or any of the ingredients, as this might cause a reaction.
SilDerm Scar Gel should not be used in conjunction with any medical skin treatments without first consulting with your doctor.
If you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or are breastfeeding, it is advisable to speak to your doctor before using this product.
It can be used on sensitive skin and on children.
It can be used in conjunction with pressure garments.
Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes at all times – rinse with clean water if contact occurs.
Do not use on third-degree burns, open wounds or on any skin conditions which compromise the integrity of the skin.
It is for external, topical use only.
What is the difference between SilDerm Scar Gel and Retin-C Vitamin Scar Treatment Oil O9 / Solution for Scars™?
Retin-C Vitamin Scar Treatment Oil O9 does not contain silicon, its active ingredients are a blend of retinol oils and vitamins C and E, which help to promote skin healing. It also comes in oil format, which must be rubbed in.
Solution for Scars™ is a cream that works on your skin at a cellular level to reduce the thickness and redness of the scar. It uses Green Tea Phytochemical (EGCG) as its active ingredient.
How should I store SilDerm Scar Gel?
