What is Uniroid HC

Uniroid HC Cream is used to treat external and internal haemorrhoids or piles. It provides short-term relief of pain, irritation, and itching around the anus. Its active ingredients are hydrocortisone and cinchocaine hydrochloride. Hydrocortisone soothes and relieves the irritation and inflammation of the skin. Cinchocaine hydrochloride is a local anaesthetic which provides relief from pain and discomfort.

How effective is Uniroid HC Cream?

Uniroid HC Cream provides short-term relief of pain, irritation, and itching around the anus. Its active ingredients are hydrocortisone and cinchocaine hydrochloride. Hydrocortisone soothes and relieves the irritation and inflammation of the skin. Cinchocaine hydrochloride is a local anaesthetic which provides relief from pain and discomfort.

It may be used on external and internal haemorrhoids and may be used alone or in conjunction with suppositories. Uniroid HC Cream is generally used for 7 days unless prescribed for longer by the doctor.

During a haemorrhoid flare-up, it is essential to keep the stool soft by consuming a diet high in fibre and plenty of fluids. Your doctor or pharmacist may also suggest the use of faecal softeners. This is because the passing of stools by haemorrhoids may cause pain and bleed, and constipation will make the situation worse.

The bowel movements should not be delayed, and the raising of feet onto a step stool when sitting on the toilet may allow easier passage of stools.

It may help to use wet tissues and avoid overwiping with toilet paper. A sitz bath will ease some of the discomforts following a bowel movement. The patient may soak the inflamed area in warm water for 10-15 minutes two or three times per day.

Can I buy Uniroid HC Cream online?

Uniroid HC Cream is a medicine that requires a prescription from the doctor for online purchases. You are welcome to book an appointment with a health expert at Click Pharmacy to discuss how best to use this product. What dose should I choose?

Uniroid HC Cream is available in one dose with hydrocortisone 5mg/g and cinchocaine hydrochloride 5mg/g. It should always be used as directed by the doctor.

The doctor or pharmacist should also be consulted if the patient is taking or has recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or those of herbal nature.

Internal haemorrhoids should be treated by applying the cream with the nozzle applicator provided. External haemorrhoids should be treated by applying with clean fingers without the use of the nozzle applicator.

How should I use Uniroid HC Cream?

Internal haemorrhoids should be treated by applying the cream with the nozzle applicator provided. External haemorrhoids should be treated by applying with clean fingers without the use of the nozzle applicator.

Using without applicator: Hands should be washed thoroughly, and a small quantity of the ointment applied onto a finger. The ointment should be spread onto the affected area without rubbing. The ointment should not be applied with toilet paper. Hands should be washed thoroughly afterwards.

Using with applicator:

The nozzle applicator should be used for internal haemorrhoids in order to ease application. The nozzle applicator should be cleaned thoroughly with warm soapy water before and after each use. It should be screwed onto the end of the ointment tube and inserted fully into the back passage.

Then the tube should be squeezed gently from the lower end while simultaneously pulling it out of the back passage. The nozzle applicator should then be unscrewed and washed.

The hands should also be washed thoroughly after application of the ointment.

The area should not be covered with bandages or plasters, or any other dressing. It is safe to cover the area with undergarments and clothes.

Alternatives to Uniroid HC

The uniroid HC ointment is typically used to help manage and treat internal and external piles. One of the best alternatives for uniroid HC is Proctosedyl Ointment, a direct alternative to this treatment. There are other prescription-only alternatives available, as well.

Alternate OTC Treatments to Uniroid HC

In addition to the prescription-only alternatives, you can find various OTC medicines widely available at common epharmacies and your local pharmacy. It is essential to try OTC alternatives before opting for prescription-only treatments, as these may be all you need. Consider one of the following:

  • Ansusol Cream
  • Anusol HC Ointment and Suppositories
  • Germoloids Cream and Ointment
  • Preparation H

Uniroid HC Ointment Vs Anusol

Both Uniroid HC Ointment and Anusol HC Ointment are ideal for treating haemorrhoids. Although they have the same purpose, the key difference lies in the active ingredients.

Uniroid HC contains the active ingredient hydrocortisone as a corticosteroid, along with the cinchocaine hydrochloride, which acts as a local anaesthetic. On the other hand, Anusol HC Ointment consists of four key active ingredients. They are hydrocortisone, zinc oxide, and bismuth salts, as well as benzyl benzoate.

Note that both treatments work well. However, determining whether Uniroid HC Ointment or Anusol is right for you will significantly depend on whether you prefer to use cream, ointments or suppositories. Similarly, one treatment might be more suitable for you. You can find both of them as a cream and ointment. Uniroid HC and Anusol HC ointment have suppository variations, too.

Before choosing, you should consult your GP about the benefits and disadvantages of the two treatments.

How long after using Uniroid HC Ointment Cream does it take to notice improvements in my condition?

You should be able to notice improvements in irritation after the first use. However for extreme conditions it may take a few days to notice significant improvements. If after 7 days of use you notice no improvements, you should stop using Uniroid HC Ointment Cream and seek medical advice from a professional as soon as possible.

What if I forget to apply my dose of Uniroid HC Ointment Cream?

If you forget to apply Uniroid HC Ointment Cream, you should apply it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. If it is almost time for your next dose you should skip the dose you just missed and continue as normal. You should never apply two doses at once, even if you are making up for a missed dose.

Can pregnant or breastfeeding women use Uniroid HC Ointment Cream?

You should not use Uniroid HC Ointment Cream if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding.

When using Uniroid HC Ointment Cream for a short period of time, you are unlikely to experience side effects. This is because the treatment is generally short, allowing no time for the drug to interfere with other areas around the body. If you experience any of the following after using Uniroid HC Ointment Cream:

  • Irritation
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Bleeding

You may be experiencing an allergic reaction. In this case you should stop using Uniroid HC Ointment Cream immediately and seek medical advice from a professional.
