Overview
Benylin Cold & Flu Max Strength Capsules help to relieve the symptoms of colds and flu. The symptoms include headaches, fever, runny nose, sore throat, tiredness, sleepiness, aches and pains. These capsules are formulated from two ingredients which are paracetamol, phenylephrine. Paracetamol is used to lower fever, reduce aches, pains and headaches. Phenylephrine act as a decongestant to reduce the swelling of the blood vessels in the nasal passage to allow free breathing. Each capsule also contains Caffeine as an active ingredient which counteracts the effects of sleep and makes you awake and active.

Take the capsules with water

Do not chew
Adults and children aged 16 years and above:

Swallow two capsules with water every 4 to 6 hours as needed

Take the capsules with a gap of 4 to 6 hours in between

Do not use more than 4 doses (8 capsules) within 24 hours
Children:

Consult a doctor before administering to children below the age of 16 years

Do not use for more than 3 days unless directed by a doctor

Keep these capsules out of reach of children.

Do not store in temperature above 25°C.

Do not use after the stated expiry dates on the packaging.
Do not take this medicine if you:

Are taking any other medicines containing paracetamol.
-
Have had an allergic reaction, in past, to any of the ingredients.
-
Suffer from hypertension, severe heart disease, circulation disorders or hyperthyroidism.
-
Suffer from stomach ulcers or have a family history of the same.
-
Have you taken or are taking in the last two weeks any drugs for depression known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs).
-
Are pregnant or breastfeeding - unless recommended by your doctor.

Are below 16 years of age.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you:

Suffer from liver or kidney diseases.

Have alcoholic liver disease or alcohol dependence.
-
Have diabetes.
-
Suffer from Raynaud’s Phenomenon (cold hands and feet).

Are taking alcohol.
Talk to your doctor if you are taking other medicines including:

Colestyramine for the management of blood cholesterol.
-
Metoclopramide or domperidone for nausea and vomiting.
-
Tricyclic antidepressants for depression.
-
Barbiturates for sleep.
-
Bronchodilators for congestion and asthma.
-
Beta blockers for high blood pressure.
-
Anticoagulants for preventing clotting of blood such as warfarin or coumarin.
If you experience any of the following side effects, consult your doctor:

Skin rash, which is a form of an allergic reaction

Hypertension with features of headache, vomiting, and palpitations

Change in the rate of heartbeat

Nausea

Difficulty sleeping

Tingling and coolness of the skin

Active ingredients per capsule are Paracetamol (500mg), Caffeine (25mg), Phenylephrine hydrochloride (6.1mg)
Other ingredients are Maize starch, Croscarmellose sodium, Sodium laurilsulfate, Magnesium stearate, Talc, Gelatin, Quinoline yellow (E104), Titanium dioxide (E171), Patent Blue V (E131), Erythrosine (E127).
