How to take Minocycline for acne
- You should take one capsule daily, or as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist.
- Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water.
- It is best to take Minocycline at the same time each day, preferably on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after food.
- Avoid taking it with dairy products like milk or antacids, as they can reduce its effectiveness.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as usual do not take two doses at once.
Minocycline MR is usually taken for at least 8 weeks, with a progress check after 3 months. If effective, treatment may continue, but if there’s no improvement, you should stop taking Minocycline MR and consider an alternative. It can be used for up to 6 months based on response.
Minocycline side effects
Like all medicines, Minocycline MR 100mg capsules can cause side effects, though not everyone experiences them. Common and serious side effects include:
