Gaviscon infant sachets provide fast and soothing relief from the pain of heartburn and indigestion in babies. Reflux is common when babies eat certain foods or drinks. It can also happen from other health problems or as a side effect of some medications. Gaviscon infant sachets are for children between 1 and 2 years old.
The sachets contain two main ingredients known to reduce reflux. Sodium alginate and magnesium alginate form a gel upon contacting stomach acid. This thickens the food inside the stomach and stops acid from coming back up. This product does not contain sugar.
Breast-fed infants aged 1-2 years:

Under 4.5 kg (10 lb): one dose. Add 5 ml of cooled, boiled water to the powder in a glass. Mix to a smooth paste, then add another 10 ml of water. Give after each feed using a spoon or feeding bottle.

Bottle-fed infants aged 1-2 years:

Under 4.5 kg (10 lb): one dose mixed into no less than 115 ml of each feed in the bottle and shaken well.

Over 4.5 kg (10 lb): Two doses mixed into no less than 225 ml of each feed in the bottle and shaken well.
Young Children:
- Two doses, prepared as for breast-fed infants. To be taken after each meal.
Maximum daily dose for infants over 4.5 kg (10 lb): Six doses in 24 hours, equating to an intake of 3.45 g of mannitol E421.

Gaviscon Infant Sachets should only be used for infants aged 1-2 years.

Do not use Gaviscon Infant with other food thickening agents or infant milk preparations containing a thickening agent.

Do not use more than the stated amount.

Do not give more than six times in 24 hours.

Products containing mannitol may have a laxative effect or cause diarrhoea.

Each sachet is security-sealed. Do not use it if it is damaged.

If your infant has been put on a low-sodium (salt) diet, consult a doctor or healthcare professional before use.

Gaviscon Infant Sachets are not to be used by infants under 1 year of age, except under medical supervision.
