What is Vaniqa Cream 11.5%

As a woman, unwanted hair growth on the face or under the chin can be a distressing problem and one which can have a detrimental effect on mental health and day to day life.

Hirsutism, which results in the growth of thick, dark, excess hair in women in areas such as the face, chest and abdomen, is caused by excessive levels of male hormones known as androgens, or by increased sensitivity to these hormones. Vaniqa is the only prescription cream on the market which has been clinically proven to treat this issue by reducing hair growth from the roots, offering long-lasting results.

Can I buy Vaniqa cream online?

Vaniqa can be purchased online via Click Pharmacy. You will be asked to answer a short set of assessment questions from which our doctors can confirm that this is the correct form of treatment for you. Once you have been prescribed Vaniqa, you can purchase it online and in most situations, it will be sent out for next day delivery.

Why choose Vaniqa?

Excessive facial hair can have a negative impact on your confidence and quality of life. Vaniqa is the only FDA approved, prescription-only cream on the market which has been clinically proven to effectively reduce facial hair in women. As such, it offers a unique and convenient way to tackle this problem. The treatment can start to work in as little as four to eight weeks and it has offered significant improvements for the many who have used it.

In fact, studies have shown that over 50% of women treated with this cream have successful outcomes with the most marked improvement from around 8 weeks onward in the majority of patients. These results demonstrate that Vaniqa creates significant change in the lives of the women suffering from hirsutism who were trialled. Not only did it ‘reduce how bothered patients felt by their facial hair’, but it also decreased the requirement and/or time spent using hair removal treatments such as shaving, waxing and tweezing.

Vaniqa can support you in:

  • Successfully managing facial hirsutism
  • Boosting your confidence
  • Improving your appearance

What dose should I choose?

Dosage information and usage instructions are provided with the treatment, but generally speaking patients need to apply a thin layer of cream over the affected areas of the face and under the chin twice a day.

If you have any questions about how much of the cream you should use, you can get in touch with your doctor or our experts at Click Pharmacy any time.

How Effective Is Vaniqa Cream?

The nearly 60% of women who had a successful outcome from the Vaniqa trial were graded as being ‘clear/almost clear’, demonstrating a ’marked improvement’ or ‘improved’.

How should I take Vaniqa?

Vaniqa is applied in a thin layer to the affected parts of the face and the adjacent areas, twice a day and at least eight hours apart, unless otherwise directed by your GP or Click Pharmacy doctor.

Wait at least 5 minutes after performing your usual hair removal technique e.g shaving, and then apply the cream. It must be rubbed in gently and thoroughly and the area should be left unwashed for at least four hours after application.

How does Vaniqa work?

There is 13.9% of the active ingredient eflornithine in Vaniqa. This penetrates to the base of the hair follicles and interferes with an enzyme that is responsible for growth.

How long do I use Vaniqa cream for before I notice a difference?

It usually takes between eight weeks and four months to see results but a difference in the amount of hair can be apparent after as little as four weeks. If you haven’t noticed a difference between four and six months, you should stop using the cream and return to your GP or book an appointment with your doctor at Click Pharmacy to discuss other options.

Can I use Vaniqa whilst pregnant or breastfeeding?

Vaniqa has not been trialled sufficiently enough in pregnant or breastfeeding women to declare it safe to use due to the potential that eflornithine could be secreted to the baby and/or in to the milk. As such, it is recommended by Vaniqa that an alternative form of hair removal is used during this time.

What are the side effects of Vaniqa?

As with all medicines, there is a range of potential side effects associated with this treatment. For example, Vaniqa can cause a number of skin reactions, such as dryness, burning or tingling sensations, stinging or itching, redness, inflammation and acne. ‘Hair bumps’, also known as folliculitis, may also occur.

Are there other treatment options available?

Vaniqa is the only clinically approved hair reduction cream on the market at present but depending on the reason for your hirsutism, and whether you are pre or post menopausal, another potential treatment could be the use of oral contraceptives.

Since hirsutism is often caused by excessive levels of male hormones (androgens) then in some cases the contraceptive pill can help women who have not yet gone through the menopause to reduce the hair growth by blocking the androgens and their effects upon the female body.

Your doctor or specialist may prescribe you with these medications if they feel they could benefit you and reduce the effects of the hirsutism.

What is Vaniqa Cream used for?

Vaniqa Cream is used to slow down the growth of unwanted hair around areas such as the face.

Can children use Vaniqa Cream?

Does Vaniqa Cream replace any hair removal processes?

Vaniqa Cream is not a hair removal process. You should continue to use your normal hair removal techniques such as waxing, shaving or plucking.
