What is Regaine for Men Extra Strength

Regaine (Minoxidil) is one of two drugs currently approved in the UK in the treatment of androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness (MPB). It has proven to be one of the most efficient medications and it has successfully aided millions of patients in their daily struggle with hair loss. One of the most damaging conditions to a healthy and confident self-image.It is suitable for men aged between 18 to 49 years and contains the active ingredient Minoxidil 5%

Here at Click, our medical team can prescribe other medication that can assist with hair loss such as Propecia (Finasteride) which has proven to be a man’s best friend! Please contact us or click here to proceed with the consultation.

    Why choose Regaine for Men?

Regaine contains the potassium channel opener known as Minoxidil. It not only slows down hair loss and eventually totally stops it, it can also re-grow hair. Research suggests that at weeks 8, 12 and 16, the difference in adjusted means for percent change in non-vellus hair counts between the placebo and minoxidil were statistically significant which basicly means that it works!

Minoxidil stimulates hair growth in persons with early and moderate stages of hereditary hair loss and this hair loss appears in men as a receding hairline and balding. The exact mechanism of action of Minoxidil for topical treatment of alopecia is not fully understood, but it can reverse the hair loss process of androgenetic alopecia by the following means:

    • increasing the diameter of the hair shaft
    • stimulating hair follicle growth
    • prolonging the hair follicle growth phase and minimizing the resting phase of hair growth

    What dose should I choose?

You may consult your doctor to confirm which dose is ideal for you or may consult our specialist doctors at Click for further advice.

How should I take Regaine for Men?

Regaine comes as a foam with a 5% concentration of Minoxidil. It needs to be applied two times a day, every day and extra care should be taken to prevent the hair from getting wet for at least 4 hours after application. A popular method of doing that is by using it in the mornings after a shower and at night before going to sleep. If the treatment is discontinued or interrupted than this may affect your hair growth capacity.

How does Regaine for Men work?

The active ingredient found in Regaine, the potassium channel opener known as Minoxidil causes hyperpolarization of cell membranes. In basic terms it works by widening the hair follicle, causing a thicker strand of hair, and by prolonging the anagen stage of hair growth which results in a longer and higher number of hair strands.

What are the side effects of Regaine for Men?

There is a possibility of side effects inherent in the use of any medication. Common side effects include burning or irritation of the eye, itching, redness and irritation. If you suffer from any heart disease, including abnormal heart rhythms or rates, angina or chest pains and/or circulation disorders you shouldn't be using Regaine.
