What is Finasteride

Finasteride is a drug used in the treatment of androgenic alopecia, which is more commonly known as male pattern baldness. This is a condition that affects around half of men by the time they reach the age of 50, however, it often begins much earlier than this. The drug acts as an inhibitor, preventing the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that can have a damaging effect on hair follicles.

How should I take Finasteride?

For the best results, you should take this medication every day with a full glass of water. You can have it on an empty stomach or with a meal.

It is recommended that you take the tablet at around the same time each day so that the level of drug in the body remains steady.

Please note it will not work faster if you take more than one so stick with the recommended dosage.

You should not touch Finasteride Tablets at all if you are pregnant as it can pass through the skin and harm the baby.

How long do Finasteride Tablets take to work?

You should notice an improvement in your condition a few days after taking Finasteride Tablets. However depending on the severity of your case it can take up to 6 months to notice an improvement.

Side Effects

After using Finasteride Tablets you will experience a number of different side effects. These side effects should improve as time goes by and you complete your treatment. Common side effects and how to overcome them include:

  • Problems getting an erection: this side effect should improve over time. If it is something you are worried about, you should consult with a GP or pharmacist prior to starting the treatment.
  • Problems ejaculating: If the amount you ejaclate is less, this is usually harmless and improves over time.
