What is Effercitrate Tablets

Cystitis is an infection of the bladder and urinary tract, known as a UTI (urinary tract infection). They happen when bacteria are introduced into the urethra and travel upwards to the bladder, which creates an infection and subsequent inflammation. Such infections can cause significant discomfort in those who suffer from them with symptoms including pain, stinging or burning when you pass urine, a desire to go to the toilet more frequently, pain in the lower abdomen region, urine that might be cloudy, strong-smelling or darker than usual in colour and other issues such as feeling poorly and tired.

It is more common in women who are sexually active but can occur in men and children too. It is often caused by the sufferer having failed to wipe properly after having visited the toilet (this should always be done front to back) and after having sex (always go to the loo before and straight after intercourse, where possible). Cystitis can also occur in pregnant women.

The common symptoms of cystitis and other urinary tract infections can be quite painful, and as such, effective remedies should be taken as soon as possible in order to alleviate them. Effercitrate tablets are effective at improving the symptoms of cystitis when taken as directed and are in a refreshing lemon and lime flavour.

What are the side effects of Effercitrate tablets?

Any product with an active ingredient can have some side effects, but they are rare in Effercitrate tablets. However, they can include passing urine more frequently as this will help to flush the infection out of your body.

Effercitrate tablets can also cause an upset stomach which is why it is advisable to take the dose after eating.

If you experience any adverse effects of taking Effercitrate tablets, discontinue use and speak to your GP. If you wish to talk to anyone about potential side effects, contact the experts at Click Pharmacy who will be happy to help.

How long do I use Effercitrate tablets for before I notice a difference?

Symptoms of your urinary tract infection should be alleviated after the course of treatment lasting 2 days. However, you may notice an improvement within a few uses. Continue usage for the full two-day period to try to ensure complete elimination of the bacteria from your system.

How effective are Effercitrate tablets?

Effercitrate tablets are extremely effective at combating the symptoms of cystitis and other urinary tract infections when used as instructed. Symptoms can be fully alleviated after just a two-day course of treatment, but some sufferers will find that they will start to feel relief soon after starting it. Two tablets of effercitrate should be dissolved into a glass of water three times per day for up to two days and should be consumed immediately. The active ingredient works to make the urine more alkaline, neutralising the acid found in it to reduce the pain felt when going to the toilet. The drinks are best consumed after eating. Most people will find symptoms have completely gone at the end of the course of treatment. If symptoms persist, contact your GP for further advice.

A dose of 2 tablets (totalling 3g of potassium citrate and 0.5g of citric acid) per glass of water should be taken up to 3 times per day (totalling 9g of potassium citrate and 1.5g of citric acid) for 2 days. A complete treatment would mean you have consumed 18g of potassium citrate and 3g of citric acid in a 2-day period.

No more than three doses should be taken in a 24-hour period. If you miss a dose, do not take double the amount, just continue as directed. If you take more than the recommended dose, speak to your doctor immediately.

How do Effercitrate tablets work?

The active ingredients in Effercitrate tablets are potassium citrate and citric acid, and they work to neutralise the acidity found in urine to make it more alkaline. The tablets, when used as directed, should also help to reduce inflammation and therefore, will help to reduce abdominal pain. The active ingredients plus the additional water consumed will help to increase the frequency with which you go to the toilet, which will help to flush the infection out of your system.
