To treat an athlete's foot you should apply a thin, even layer of the cream once or twice a day for 4-6 weeks, or until all symptoms have cleared.
If you are using Daktarin Intensiv Cream to treat dhobie itch you should apply a thin even layer of the cream all over infected areas once or twice a day for up to 4 weeks. After symptoms have cleared up you should continue applying the cream for a few more days to prevent re-infection.
Before using Daktarin Intensiv Cream you should wash the infected areas thoroughly with lukewarm water and dry well with a towel. You should not share towels as this increases the chance of spreading infection. After the infected areas have dried you should apply a layer of the cream.
Symptoms of athlete’s foot and dhobie itch should clear up within 4-6 weeks. If after 4 weeks you do not notice any changes, speak to a GP or pharmacist to ensure this treatment is right for you.
While they are both used to treat fungal infections, the main difference is the active ingredient. In Daktarin Intensiv Cream, the active ingredient is able to treat dhobie itch as well as athlete’s foot. Whereas the active ingredient in Daktarin Aktiv Cream is only able to treat an athlete's foot.
It is safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women to use Daktarin Intensiv Cream. However it is advised that the cream is not applied to the chest area where the baby makes contact while breastfeeding.
No, using Daktarin Intensiv Cream does not affect one’s ability to drive or operate machinery safely.

For Athlete's Foot - Enough cream to cover the toes and surrounding areas should be applied once or twice a day for between 4 and 6 weeks. Treatment should continue for a few days after signs have cleared up. This will prevent a re-occurrence.
For Dhobie Itch - Enough cream to cover the affected area should be applied once or twice a day for up to 4 weeks. Treatment should continue for a few days after signs have cleared up. This will prevent a re-occurrence.
To apply Daktarin Intensiv, perform the following steps:
1) Wash the infected area.
2) Dry well - do not share a towel with others as you may risk spreading the infection.
3) Apply the cream to the infected area and surrounding skin.
4)Wash your hands carefully after applying the cream to avoid spreading the infection to other parts of the body or other people. Similarly, clothing which comes into contact with the infected areas, such as socks, should be washed and changed frequently.
Athletes foot is a fungal infection that usually develops between the toes. It is most common for people whose feet are sweaty while wearing tight-fitting shoes.
Daktarin Intensiv contains the ingredient ketoconazole. Ketoconazole is an antifungal used to treat fungal infections such as athlete's foot. Ketoconazole works by interfering with the fungi and yeast cell membranes. It works by preventing the production of ergosterol which is a key element of fungal cell membranes. This disrupts the membrane and causes holes to appear.
The membrane stops unwanted substances entering the cells and stops the content from leaking out. When the miconazole makes holes in the membranes, the contents leak out, and the fungi dies.
For Athlete's Foot - apply the cream once or twice a day for between 4 and 6 weeks. If symptoms have not improved after 4 weeks, visit your doctor. Continue to apply for 1 week after symptoms have disappeared to prevent re-occurrence.
For Dhobie Itch - apply the cream once or twice a day for between 4 and 6 weeks. If symptoms have not improved after 4 weeks, visit your doctor. Continue to apply for 1 week after symptoms have disappeared to prevent re-occurrence.
