Daktarin Intensiv Cream

Daktarin Intensiv Cream has been developed to treat both Athlete's Foot, and Dhobie Itch. It can be applied to both the foot and the groin area depending on the symptoms. Daktarin Intensiv works by destroying the fungus using ketoconazole.

How Effective Is Daktarin Intensiv Cream?

Daktarin Intensiv is an effective treatment for athlete's foot. The active ingredient – ketoconazole is proven to kill the fungi that cause athlete's foot. Most patients see a recovery within 2-4 weeks.

Can I buy Daktarin Intensiv Cream online?

Daktarin Intensiv does not require a prescription, although you are very welcome to book an appointment with a health expert at Click Pharmacy to discuss how best to use this product. Daktarin Intensiv can be purchased online and will be sent directly to you by Next Day Delivery. Multipacks are also available.

What dose should I choose?

Daktarin Intensiv comes in 5 g, 15 g, and 30 g tubes.

For Athlete's Foot - Enough cream to cover the toes and surrounding areas should be applied once or twice a day for between 4 and 6 weeks.  Treatment should continue for a few days after signs have cleared up. This will prevent a re-occurrence.

For Dhobie Itch - Enough cream to cover the affected area should be applied once or twice a day for up to 4 weeks. Treatment should continue for a few days after signs have cleared up. This will prevent a re-occurrence.

How should I apply Daktarin Intensiv Cream?

To apply Daktarin Intensiv, perform the following steps:

1) Wash the infected area.

2) Dry well - do not share a towel with others as you may risk spreading the infection.

3) Apply the cream to the infected area and surrounding skin.

4)Wash your hands carefully after applying the cream to avoid spreading the infection to other parts of the body or other people. Similarly, clothing which comes into contact with the infected areas, such as socks, should be washed and changed frequently.

How does Daktarin Intensiv Cream work?

Athletes foot is a fungal infection that usually develops between the toes. It is most common for people whose feet are sweaty while wearing tight-fitting shoes.

Daktarin Intensiv contains the ingredient ketoconazole. Ketoconazole is an antifungal used to treat fungal infections such as athlete's foot. Ketoconazole works by interfering with the fungi and yeast cell membranes. It works by preventing the production of ergosterol which is a key element of fungal cell membranes. This disrupts the membrane and causes holes to appear.

The membrane stops unwanted substances entering the cells and stops the content from leaking out. When the miconazole makes holes in the membranes, the contents leak out, and the fungi dies.

How long do I need to apply Daktarin Intensiv Cream to work before I notice a difference?

For Athlete's Foot - apply the cream once or twice a day for between 4 and 6 weeks.  If symptoms have not improved after 4 weeks, visit your doctor. Continue to apply for 1 week after symptoms have disappeared to prevent re-occurrence.

For Dhobie Itch - apply the cream once or twice a day for between 4 and 6 weeks.  If symptoms have not improved after 4 weeks, visit your doctor. Continue to apply for 1 week after symptoms have disappeared to prevent re-occurrence.

What is the difference between Daktarin Intensiv Cream and Daktarin Activ/Lamisil Once Cream?

Daktarin Aktiv is a cream that uses miconazole nitrate to fight the fungus that causes Athlete's Foot. It has to be applied every day.

Daktarin Intensiv uses ketoconazole to fight the fungus that causes Athlete's Foot. Daktarin Intensiv can also be used for Dhobie Itch. It is also applied every day.

Lamisil Once Cream works a little differently to the Daktarin Creams. The cream is applied once. The active ingredient - terbinafine - continues to work for the next month to fight the infection.
