How should I take Anbesol teething gel?

Anbesol teething gel should be administered only through topical application. For adults or the elderly, apply a small amount of the pain-relieving gel onto your gums or affected area. A frequency of every three hours is advised and not more.

For children of 5 months and above, place a pea-sized amount of the gel on a clean fingertip, then apply it on the affected area. Intervals of every three hours are advised and not more than six times in a day. As too much absorption of the active ingredient, lidocaine hydrochloride, into the body can lead to fatal side effects.

In addition, medicine should not be extended past 7 days of use. Make sure always to check the label and read the patient leaflet before use.

What dose should I choose?

For adults, only use a small size of the Anbesol teething gel on the affected area. For children of 5 months and above, apply a pea size blob of the gel onto the affected areas at intervals of 3 hours. Although two applications right away can be effective. Ensure that as you apply, you do not cross the six times dose limit in a day. Also, do not continue to apply the gel if symptoms persist after 7 days in a teething episode. In the case that a child vomits or swallows the medicine, wait for 3 hours before reapplying the treatment again. Avoid reapplying the product immediately.
