How should I use Uniroid HC cream?

Internal haemorrhoids should be treated by applying the cream with the nozzle applicator provided. External haemorrhoids should be treated by applying with clean fingers without the use of the nozzle applicator.

Using without applicator: Hands should be washed thoroughly, and a small quantity of the ointment applied onto a finger. The ointment should be spread onto the affected area without rubbing. The ointment should not be applied with toilet paper. Hands should be washed thoroughly afterwards.

Using with applicator:

The nozzle applicator should be used for internal haemorrhoids in order to ease application. The nozzle applicator should be cleaned thoroughly with warm soapy water before and after each use. It should be screwed onto the end of the ointment tube and inserted fully into the back passage.

Then the tube should be squeezed gently from the lower end while simultaneously pulling it out of the back passage. The nozzle applicator should then be unscrewed and washed.

The hands should also be washed thoroughly after application of the ointment.

The area should not be covered with bandages or plasters, or any other dressing. It is safe to cover the area with undergarments and clothes.

What dose should I choose?

Uniroid HC Cream is available in one dose with hydrocortisone 5mg/g and cinchocaine hydrochloride 5mg/g. It should always be used as directed by the doctor.

The doctor or pharmacist should also be consulted if the patient is taking or has recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or those of herbal nature.

Internal haemorrhoids should be treated by applying the cream with the nozzle applicator provided. External haemorrhoids should be treated by applying with clean fingers without the use of the nozzle applicator.

What are the side effects of Uniroid HC cream?

Like all medicines, Uniroid HC Cream can cause side effects, but not everyone gets them. Medical advice should be sought in case of allergic reactions that may exhibit with worsening of itching, pain, or rash around the back passage.

The use of large doses and use beyond the prescribed period may suppress the adrenal glands. This may cause complex changes in the body. Prolonged use should always be discussed with a doctor.
